Michigan Engineering Competencies

Michigan Engineering Competency Developing Proficient Exemplary Why did I select this proficiency level? What will I do to further develop in this area?
● I have worked extensively in public affairs and one-to-one communication, from JROTC and external affairs at Michigan Hackers through my internships and teaching. I will keep reaching out to stakeholders and continue teaching students and helping peers.
● I practiced creativity extensively while creating games on the Roblox platform. I will keep working on creative projects and apply creative direction to my workout app.
● Leadership in high school required me to take on many perspectives and understand other mindsets, even when people were in conflict. I will keep listening professionally and stay someone people feel comfortable speaking to.
● I have worked in entrepreneurship both at startups and by building my own. I will keep working in entrepreneurship and looking for ways to innovate.
● I have not explored ethics much outside of my courses. I will stay informed on politics and keep the consequences of my innovations in mind.
● I have not taken formal courses or training in this area. I will stay informed through local news, keep the impact of my work in mind, and stay connected with the communities I am part of.
● I have taken very difficult coursework, and I have fought to get into rooms meant for people older and more experienced than me. I will keep reaching higher and working to become the best version of myself.
● I have extensive leadership experience, and I still lead in many forms, from teaching to entrepreneurship. I will strengthen the people around me and help them succeed.
● I love learning and teaching, and I am always trying to learn something new. I will learn outside my coursework, including linear optimization, world languages, and risk management.
● I have done conflict resolution in JROTC and worked with stakeholders at Michigan Hackers, but I have not formally studied risk management or had much recent high-stakes experience. I will keep the value of risk management to stakeholders in mind.
● I planned many large-scale systems during my internship at Common Vector Robotics, and I open-sourced Captain, a project-management system. I will keep working on large computer science projects and develop algorithms with my team at M-AST.
● I am a strong leader and contributor on teams, and I work to uplift the people around me. I will keep showing that I value my teammates and striving to uplift the people around me.

SMART Goals
